Draft policy

This policy explains what personal information Chasing Eternity collects when you sign up for our Bible studies, why we collect it, and how you stay in control of it. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who we are

Chasing Eternity is a faith-based publisher that makes biblical principles accessible in everyday life. Chasing Eternity is run by Eternity Digital Projects, the "responsible party" for your information under POPIA.

What we collect and why

We only collect what we need to send you what you asked for.

Your first name and email address
To send the study you signed up for, and to greet you by name
Your choices on the form (kids' edition, future studies)
To send only what you've asked for
A record of your consent (what you agreed to, the wording you saw, when, and which page you signed up on)
To show we have your permission, as POPIA requires
Basic email activity (whether an email was delivered, opened or a link clicked)
To check our emails arrive and to improve the studies
Technical information (such as your IP address) when you submit the form
To block spam and automated sign-ups

We don't sell your information, and we never ask for sensitive details such as health or financial information.

Our emails, and how to stop them

We'll only send you:

  • The study you signed up for, for example the 14 daily Guard Your Heart emails.
  • The kids' edition, if you ticked that box.
  • Future studies and resources, only if you ticked that separate box.

Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click stops all our emails. You can also use the update your preferences link to stop just the kids' edition or future studies, or email us and we'll remove you.

Children

The kids' edition is for parents to use with their children. We collect information from the parent only and never ask for a child's name or details.

Who we share it with, and where it's stored

We use a few trusted service providers to run the studies. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

Mailchimp (Intuit)
Sends our emails and stores your email address, name and preferences
Where data is stored: United States
Supabase

Lovable

Where data is stored: EMEA

Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. POPIA allows this when the provider is bound by data protection rules that give similar protection, or when you agree to it. We only use providers that commit to protecting personal information in their terms.

We'll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

  • Your name, email and preferences: for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you straight away. Your email address stays on a suppressed list so you're never added back by mistake.
  • Your consent record: for [3 YEARS] after you unsubscribe, so we can show you agreed to receive our emails.
  • If you ask us to delete your information: we'll delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored with providers that use encryption and access controls. Only the people who run Chasing Eternity can see it.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
  • Ask us to correct or update it
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Object to us using it, including for direct marketing
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, by unsubscribing or emailing us

To do any of these, email hello@chasingeternity.life. We'll reply within [30] days.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes and show the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information, we'll email you first.
